Distraction
02/29/2016

Dear Dr.Laura,

I am a stay at home mom of a 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter. The past 2 years have been a struggle for me and I entered survival mode and didn't know how to end the cycle. I called you a few weeks ago about the fighting my kids are starting to engage in frequently. Your advice was so simple but so powerful.

Distraction...1 simple word.

It hit me like a ton of bricks. I needed to get out of my survival mode and become the stay at home mom that I wish I had. I am not saying the fighting instantly ended, but your advice gave me clarity on how I want to raise my kids. With engagement! I need to focus and engage. With me focusing on endless lists and chores my kids didn't have my full attention.

Thank you for your advice. It changed my thinking and made me want to be a better, more engaging mom. With me simply engaging in the moment, it has completely changed the tone of my home.

Kim
