How Parents Fail Their Kids
05/21/2015

I work in public schools and it never seems to amaze me. The schools I am in range in grades Head Start to 8th. It's a wide range, but yet I see parents fail to lead their kids over and over. They want to be the child's friend. There are no limits and their children have everything. There is no 'no' in the vocabulary and respect is often disregarded. Kids get up and walk out of classes, back talk to adults and are disrespectful to any authority. They make no demands of their children, and often rise up against the administration with the children watching.

I feel real discouraged for our future. My own kids never spoke to another adult the way I see kids today. They are often amazed when they see kids behave the way they do. My kids know what a swat on the tush was. When I tell friends this they look at me in amazement. All I say is "It solved the problem." My kids are well adjust and successful in their own way. They work hard and I am so proud of them. They still come home to visit which I figure is their way of saying their father and I didn't do too bad raising them.
