Parental Irony
09/15/2016

My parents frequently told me, "You can do anything if you set your mind to it." It was a given that this was anything good.

The ironic thing is somewhere along the way, I realized that while my parents always encouraged me, they also would discourage me. "Oh no don't look for a new job, you have a really good one now..." Ironic to say the least. I have more examples, but they are all along the same lines.

It took me a while to realize that I don't need their approval and I can chase my dreams. I have learned that if I set my mind to something AND work hard, I can achieve it.
