Verbal Flowers of Appreciation

Years ago, I noticed my Aunt Louise always referred to Uncle Bob as "my best friend". She never said anything bad or negative about him and gave him no corrections in front of others.  So I watched, learned, and practiced.

I now introduce my beloved as "the love of my life". I tell him how handsome he is to me. I say, "thank you", and "please", and make it a point to comment on things he does for us and others that make the world better. With 52 years of marriage, I wish I had figured it out earlier, before the crisis that nearly caused a divorce, but I thank God for second chances. He brings me flowers, and tonight is grilling steak just for us. I recommend constant verbal flowers of appreciation. They are healing and build love.
