Learning to Marry Somebody Normal

In my lifetime, I've turned down seven official marriage proposals, all of them surprises. I've also had dozens of other men and boys indicate they would like to marry me. Of the ones offering official proposals, I'd known at the time they were all interested, but didn't ever realize we were to "that point". In all cases I was interested, too, but it just never felt like it was the right fit. To be married was always my fondest dream, but I couldn't make myself settle. I've considered calling your show to ask what you thought was wrong with me -- I'm fifty years old now, and haven't had a date in years -- but I think I already know. My dad was something of a dreamboat: handsome, bright, artistic, amazing athlete, and pretty much a narcissist. Emotionally, I'd be attracted to people like that, the ones who were neglectful; but intellectually I'd know it was a bad idea. I guess I've never been able to get past that and marry somebody normal.
