I Am My Kid's Mom
I am my kid's mom, not because I carried him for nine months and spent 20 hours in labor before I finally gave birth to him.
I am my kid's mom, not because I herd him off to daycare so I can work my 40+ hour a week job to support the lifestyle I think I can't live without.
I am my kid's mom, not because I won't let the daycare worker tell me about his first step he took since I wasn't there to see it and as his mother I am entitled to have the first time I see him walk be considered his first step.
I am my kid's mom, not because I want him to be proud of me for all of my accomplishments in education and career that led me to neglect him because I felt my education and career were more important (now I would never say that, but I show it in my actions).
I am my kid's mom, not because I found a daycare for kids when they are sick, so I can go to work and not be there when he wants me most.
I AM my kid's mom by being there to kiss his boo boos', to read him stories, to guide, nurture, and love him 24/7.
I AM my kid's mom because even though I do need to work outside the home to make ends meet, I do it when my kid is in school, or when he has gone to bed for the night, or I sell my big house and move into a smaller one where we can afford the mortgage on one income.
I AM my kid's mom because I'm THERE to teach him about the God who created him and loves him (even more than I do) and who sent his son down to this earth to die for him.
I AM my kid's mom because I am there to show him through example how to be respectful, polite, and an upstanding citizen.
I AM my kid's mom because I am THERE to teach him the morals and values that God expects us to live by and that will ultimately make his life more fulfilling.
Kids are one of the greatest gifts and greatest responsibilities that God BLESSES us with. Being a mother is one of the most challenging experiences we will ever face, but also the most rewarding.
I CHOOSE to be my kid's mom!
