Poem About Dr. Laura

I need to call Dr. Laura
My life is in a pickle.
I'm probably being annoying.
I might be acting fickle.

Mother Laura will have the answers.
She'll tell me what to do.
I have to be straight forward.
Any lies, she will see right through.

I'll start out with "I am my kids' Mom"
To her son and all soldiers give "Thanks".
Then I'll get right to the question.
If she asks, I'll fill in the blanks.

Be sure not to say "even if..."
That may just end my call.
She'll be the first to tell me
She doesn't have a crystal ball.

Make sure to be quiet and listen.
Don't interrupt her when she speaks.
She's been called a "voice of reason".
She's small, but far from weak.

After she gives her opinion,
Resist any "ifs, ands or buts"
To questions, don't say "I don't know",
That line really drives her nuts.

Benjamin Pratt orchestrates the music,
Kimberly Neill screens my call.
She explains to me what the rules are.
I hope I can remember them all.

My hands shake as I push the buttons.
I'm nervous when I hear the phone ring,
But I know it will be well worth it
When she helps me "Go do the Right Thing!"

Shellie
A proud Army wife and my four kids' Mom
