Who You Choose at 18, Isn't Who'll You Choose at 31
Hello Dr. Laura,
I was listening to you the other day and you compelled me to write. You were talking to a girl who had broken up with her boyfriend at the age of 18 and you told her that the person you choose at 18 isn't the person you will choose at 31! You are so right on. My boyfriend from 19 to 23 was the exact opposite of my husband now. We celebrated our month anniversaries! He worked, but still took money from his parents! He would tell me little stories that I believed, even though a couple of times he was caught in plain lies, but I chose to ignore those signs! He kept secrets from his parents, and then I was surprised he did the same to me! He was completely introverted and had no people skills, but I liked being able to 'talk' for him! I was his mother and, at the time, I loved it. I can say that I did love him, but it WASN'T enough! I thank God everyday that HE dumped me! I thought I was so smart back then, boy was I wrong!
I am my husband's wife and my little daughter's Mommy!
