So Rich, Even In This Economy
Dr. Laura,
Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary over a packed dinner plate that I managed to swindle from my family's house because we are so financially strapped that I couldn't afford groceries this week.
You see, a month ago, after returning from vacation, we came home to find out that the law firm my husband had been working at had suddenly ran out of money and had closed down. Being 7 months pregnant, and determined that I would be staying home with our daughter after birth, I decided that I could panic, or I could do what "Mama Laura" would have me do. I became, and continue to be "the wind beneath my hubby's wings".
Every day, as he proactively prospects for jobs, and works odd ones to bring in cash, I love, support, and encourage him, letting him know how much I believe in him, believe that God will provide, and tell him it's all going to work out.
Tonight, after constant urging from my hubby to check my email, I finally did, only to find the CHEESIEST E-Card from him, telling me how much he loved and appreciated me, and how "bear-y lucky" he was to have me in his life (the ecard had two lover bears embracing to illustrate the mispelling of "bear-y"ULTRA CHEESY).
It was at this moment that I realized just how RICH I truly am. My bank account might be running on fumes right now, and I may get a moment of (hormone induced) fear about our circumstances as my due date arrives, but in this moment of clarity, I truly know that I have so much more than money can buy. If it weren't for your sound advice and wisdom throughout the three years I've been listening to your show, I would've seen our situation as dismal, and probably would've nagged, whined and blamed my husband. Thankfully, I now know better, and will continue to praise, support and appreciate my wonderful hubby for all the love and effort he shows. This makes me feel like the richest woman in the world!
God Bless,
T.
p.s. Since I consider you like a mom, congrats! You're going to be a grandma next month!!
