Taking The Time To Be Courteous

One day I walked into the master bedroom after my husband had left for work and found that he had made the bed.  I had meant to text him to thank him, but it kept slipping my mind.  Two days later, we were in the car together and I told him how happy I was to see the bed made, and that I was sorry I forgot to thank him.  The next morning, he made the bed, and the morning after that, and the morning after that.

He has taken it on as his full-time chore.  I am sure now to thank him several times a week and tell him how happy it makes me.  Showing a little appreciation has paid off big time in this respect, but that's not why I do it.  I thank him because it is the courteous thing to do.  I treat him with respect and appreciation, and he treats me like he's my man.  If only more couples would take the time to thank each other for the little things - it has made a difference in my marriage, and I'm sure it would have a similar effect in others.
