From A Future Stay-At-Home Mom

Hi, Dr. Laura:

I'm 29 years old and have been married for two years.  Like most married couples my age, we constantly receive the question "when are you going to have kids?"  I always knew in the back of my mind that I wanted children, but never thought much about it until I started listening to you.

I was fortunate to land a job straight out of college that has allowed me to live a very comfortable lifestyle, with many years of great vacations and lots of material goods.  My husband and I are proactively working to set ourselves up financially so that I may quit my job when we start a family.

I was lucky to grow up with a stay-at-home Mom, and I know many of my good decisions come from having two great parents who were involved in my life.  While I have some doubts about leaving my plush job and thoughts of the people who will call me "stupid" for leaving what seems like the perfect career, it is listening to you every day that keeps me focused on what's really important.  I just got your book "In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms," and I'm so thankful to have you when I'm doubtful.  I know it won't be easy to make big changes, but my kids will know love every day and it will be the most important job I will ever have.

From a future stay-at-home Mom,

Sophie
