Morals & Ethics

I spent the first 40 years of my life selfishly, living only for career success and material gain.  I had no understanding at all of relationships, and I had no desire to be a mom.  When I got pregnant, I thought nothing of aborting.  It was "inconvenient."  I treated men as if they existed to serve me and my agenda.  Then, about 20 years ago, I stumbled onto your radio program. I thought you were smart, but nuts!  But I couldn't stop listening.

Slowly but surely, you altered my brain chemistry completely.  For the first time in my life, I grasped what morals and ethics were, and I wanted to have them!  I began to understand my own responsibility to do the right thing.  Suddenly, I wanted a good man and a baby.  I wanted to live for someone else, but it was very late in the game.  The brilliant career I had built no longer seemed important, and the great accomplishments fell flat.

An old college boyfriend reached out, and we reconnected.  I realized what a good man I had callously thrown away years ago.  I realized that producing a baby myself was not a good plan, so we married and later adopted a baby boy at birth.  I became a stay-at-home mom and while it was uncomfortable at first, you were there to always guide me.  Now my baby boy is 15 years old, and I get to say, "I am my kid's mom and my husband's girlfriend!"  My life was a train wreck until I found you, Dr. Laura.  I thank you every day for your clarity, guidance and wisdom.
