My Compassionate Husband

My husband and I met on a blind date. We were from two different worlds: he was entering the ministry and I was working in a factory trying to kick some bad habits.

The first date was awkward, but we decided on a second. He picked me up from my apartment and we needed to stop by his home for a moment. While we were there, his elderly neighbor lady called and explained her husband was ill and could not take her to her eye appointment.  Could my date possibly take her? When he got off the phone he explained he was sorry, but he couldn't let this woman down.  He promised her she could rely on him. My date and this lady were in the front seat of the car as I sat in the back taking her to the eye doctor 50 miles away.  At first, I did not know what to think of the situation. Then finally my wisdom kicked in and I realized I could live with this kind of compassion for the rest of my life. Thirty years later, I'm happy to say, he hasn't changed a bit!
