I’ve been married for 31 years. My husband was a widower with 4 children, and I consider them my own. We went on to have 2 children together, and I stayed home to raise all of them. It wasn’t easy having teenagers and babies in the house, but thanks to you I made it through.
Years ago, our 19-year-old daughter (the oldest) wanted to do something we didn’t approve of. My husband told her “My job isn’t to give you everything you want. My job as a father is to make you successful, give back to the community, and be proud of yourself. My job is to make you not need me anymore.” She is now 43 years old, very successful, and mom to two of my grandchildren.
Many of our friends have quoted my husband’s words to their own children!
