Today is my 13th wedding anniversary. At our wedding, we received two of your books as a gift – The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, and The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage. At first, I joked about someone giving us these books as a wedding gift, but I read them before our sixth month mark. I wondered what kind of wife WOULDN’T follow these guidelines? I’ve since seen relationships fall apart, and I’m just thankful for what my husband and I have.
I re-read both books every year around our anniversary. Today, I’ve been pondering what kind of wife and mother I’d be if it wasn’t for these books. Would I be a neglectful wife and mother? Would we be together but unhappy? Would my husband and I be celebrating thirteen years? These thoughts made me very emotional. While our marriage isn’t perfect (and whose is?), it’s a damned good one. I know it’s going to last forever.
