Dr. Laura, your influence on my life has extended far beyond parenting. You’ve helped me lead a fulfilling life with purpose and passion. I’m proud to say that my husband and I have just celebrated 29 years of marriage, and we’re more in love than ever. We met as teenagers, and despite the odds, we managed to build a strong and loving marriage, with mutual respect, communication, and compromise.
None of this has been easy or effortless, and we’ve dealt with many challenges and complicated issues along the way including alcoholism , infidelity early in the marriage, my bossy and controlling tendencies, mental health issues for all four kids, dysfunctional extended families, career challenges and family health problems. But through it all, we were committed to doing the right thing for our kids and future selves. We figured out how to grow closer, not apart.
Thanks for being a guiding light in our lives. You have made a huge difference for this one starfish, who has set off many positive ripples into this world.
