I just wanted to send you a quick message of hope about our younger generation. I hear many calls about βsnowflakesβ and parents dealing with adult children well into their 30βs β even older! Our 24-year-old son is currently accomplishing more than I could have ever imagined. He was a bright and talented child, but school was just not his thing. I canβt even count the number of meetings we were called into with teachers and principals.
During his last year in high school, he took a class at the local community college to become an electrician. That class changed his life by igniting his desire to enter the electrical field. It was the spark that set my son on a path to success. He got hired right after graduation, moved into his own apartment a month later (with NO financial help or co-signing from us) and immersed himself in the electrical field.
My wife and I were initially sad about our empty nest. We now realize we raised him with a strong work ethic. Currently, he is a senior employee at his company and holds all available electrical journeyman licenses. I just wanted to share the possibilities that come from taking a different path than most. Thank you for encouraging young adults to explore their talents and for all you do!
