As a family of five, weathering the pandemic has been very hard. My husband used to travel weekly for his job, so having him home 24/7 has been an adjustment. His relationship with our kids has been a lot better since he’s been home, however, and when the public-school system was not an option when we needed them most, we withdrew our kids and started homeschooling them.
I’m ashamed to admit that for years, I had been outsourcing our kids to others for a huge part of their education. I didn’t really know what they were being taught. I assumed I knew, but when they came home and I had to take over, I found that the gaps in their learning were atrocious. While every day is not sunshine and butterflies, we keep going and keep doing. I am grateful to have you in my ear five days a week, encouraging me and keeping me motivated.
