I heard you recently tell a caller that being obese was a form of suicide. It was a shock to the listener, but it really hit home for me. Several months ago, I heard you tell a caller who was having trouble losing weight to get up off her chair and do ten squats while she was watching TV. By doing this several times a day, she would be getting some real exercise. So. I started doing that. I started with ten squats during commercial breaks, which led to 12, 15 and then 20 squats. I was finally moving and each time I completed a set I felt good about myself.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Iβve added walking to my routine and now Iβm walking 10-12 miles each day. Iβve added free weight training too. Since April, as a result of you chiding for me to get up off the couch and my newfound motivation, Iβve lost FIFTY pounds! I have 20 more pounds to go to reach my goal. Iβm 58 years old, and prior to my weight loss, I was prediabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I was taking medication for all of those things. I am now off all the meds. Iβve even gotten my sister to start doing squats! Thank you for motivating me to start small β anyone can get off the couch and do SOMETHING for ten minutes to begin with. This has led to my being the healthiest I have been in 20 years. I might not have done it without your constant reminders that we could always take control and work toward improving our health.
