A few years ago, I was in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant, stuffing my face with as much food as I could fit. I was also listening to your program at the time. I often spent lunchtime waiting for your program to start, then getting into my car to find the โflavor of the dayโ fast-food restaurant to binge eat to my heartโs content. I would return home to โpurgeโ my food. It was a never-ending cycle and I felt trapped.
Then I heard you speak to a runner who had anorexia. While I donโt remember the exact call, something about it โhitโ me. I had been an athlete too, but after a soccer injury, I became lazy and unmotivated. That day, I decided to go for a run. It was slow going at first, but I worked myself up, mile by mile. My fast-food lunchtime Dr. Laura sessions were replaced with sandwiches, and then eventually salads. Your phrase โeat less, move moreโ became my mantra.
Soon Iโll be racing in my first-ever Ironman triathlon โ that includes swimming, biking, and running a marathon. Iโve also raised more than $4,000 for leukemia research along the way. Iโm now in the best shape of my life and Iโm happy AND healthy. Thank you for being the catalyst to put me on the right path.
