I chose wisely at the young age of 19; my husband was 21 (what were we thinking??). Even though we were very young, we were committed from day one. We had five children in eleven years. Again, what were we thinking?? The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands changed my life, and I cried through a lot of it. As a tired and worn-out mom, I had looked at my husband as another needy human.
How horrible and wrong that was. To all the tired moms out there I say “hang on,” read the book and cherish your husband! Our husbands are on our team, and when they feel loved and cherished, they will do anything for us.
I’m thankful my husband hung in there while I figured it all out. I love what you advocate saying every morning: “what can I do today that will make my husband happy that he’s married to me?”
We have now been married 43 years. He is and will always be the love of my life. We are experiencing the love and joy of having all those years and memories together, as well as our 14 grandchildren!
