When my daughter was in college, she dated a young man who told me of a conversation he had with his great-grandfather. This kid knew I was a perfectionist and thought I needed to hear what his wise relative had said. He was right!
His great-grandfather said: “Life isn’t about perfectionism; it’s about progress.” Up to that point, progress meant less to me than being “perfect.” Perfectionism, however, is like a self-made prison. It really slowed me down in both my personal life and my working life.
So, now I focus on progress with a touch of excellence. Being free from the chains of perfectionism is priceless!
