Email of the Day: Laughter Really Is the Best Medicine!

Email of the Day: Laughter Really Is the Best Medicine!

I am one of nine children and grew up in a very loving family with a stay-at-home mom. When my parents were alive and would host family dinners, we would tend to β€œscore” the gathering by how many in attendance had to use their inhalers from laughing so hard.

Sad to say, my Dad and several siblings were cursed with lung issues, but nevertheless, we often shared a GOOD LAUGH. Now as we have all grown older and continue to gather, we still score ourselves. At our last gathering, we laughed until we hurt and mostly it was all of us laughing at ourselves and things we had done along the way.

When my husband β€œentered” into this large family group upon marrying me 39 years ago, he wasn’t really sure what to make of all of us, but he learned to join in and is a really good sport when the laughter is about him.

I heard you talking recently about how laughter is good for us. I agree! It’s so important to be able to laugh, and especially to laugh at ourselves.
