I’ve been on a mission to treat my husband more kindly. We’ve been married 19 years, and I did choose wisely and work hard at treating kindly, but I’m always looking for ways to improve. So, I bought a bunch of “lovey” cards to have on hand just to surprise him with from time to time.
I put the first one under his pillow. He was really surprised, and frankly, kind of leery about it, like “what is up with this?” Then we had great sex! I gave him the next one just last week. We were both feeling somewhat “pissy” toward each other over an impending kitchen remodel. I heard my “inner Dr. Laura,” and thought this would be a good time for a card, even though I wasn’t really feeling it. So, the next card went on his desk. I watched him head into his office, wondering what his reaction would be this time. Well, the next thing I knew, he was working on a project I had asked him to do forever! He made no mention of the card; he just started working on the project. Later in the day, he did thank me for the card. We both ended up feeling “back on track,” and my cute little fireplace in the den finally was working again.
You always say that little things mean a lot, and I can confirm that! I have a few more cards left, and I will definitely restock.
