Email of the Day: Making Life Better for Others

Email of the Day: Making Life Better for Others

Five months ago, when the pandemic was starting, I remember hearing many of your callers complaining about problems with their upcoming weddings in May or June or the awful mother-in-law they would have to visit in summer.  Even at that time, I knew they wouldn’t have to worry about that.  So, I did something to make life better for others during these bizarre times, and it started accidentally.

I exercise.  I do the free YouTube exercise videos.  I posted a few that I had particularly liked, and people commented how good they were, so I asked myself, β€œwhat if I set up a series of exercise videos?  Would anyone be interested?”  So, I created a Facebook exercise page, made it public and started inviting people and asking them to invite others.  We’re a small group.  I schedule six workout sessions a week, ranging from 15 to 45 minutes, which include strength, cardio and flexibility.  On Sundays, I schedule a meditation.  My members range in age from 30 to over 70.  Those who commented said I started this at one of their lowest points during the pandemic.  They tell me they feel stronger, both physically and mentally.  And this gives ME the gift of doing for others that I (a retired nurse) need.  Win win.
