My husband and I recently celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. We have three children β 13, 11, and 7 β and we encourage them to make handmade gifts for birthdays and other events. This year, the kids bought a wooden basket to make us an anniversary gift.
They spent hours together decorating the basket to surprise us. On our anniversary, they presented their gift to us. My 13-year-old daughter had written a humorous and heartfelt letter to us, and as I was reading it, she had added βall of your marriage knowledge is from Nani [her grandmother] and Dr. Laura!β I couldnβt stop laughing and told her she was absolutely right.
When I was twelve, my Dad gave me your book βTen Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives.β Iβve followed your advice ever since. I went to law school, met my husband and after getting to know each other for two years, we married. A year later, I got pregnant, and have been a stay-at-home mom ever since.
I am a minivan-driving, school volunteering, delicious dinner-making housewife and I love every minute of it! I gave my daughter the same book when she turned 13, and I hope and pray that she listens and also earns her βhappily ever after.β
