On a whim, I took our two daughters (two and four years old) to an indoor trampoline park. We live on a ranch, and we were in town, so I decided to seize the opportunity to do something different with them. It had already been a long day, because the kids had woken up at 5AM, and I craved a much-needed break.
As my girls started playing on the trampolines, I noticed the dads who had brought their children were jumping on the trampolines with their kids. Meanwhile, all of the moms who had brought their kids sat on the sidelines, scrolling on their phones. I immediately went back to the ticket booth and bought myself a ticket to jump, complete with some dorky non-slip socks!
I went out there and jumped with my kids, and you know what? I could not stop smiling the entire time. I was filled with joy to my core just being silly with them. The only other mom that was jumping with her kids was an acquaintance and she also happens to be a stay-at-home mom.
I realized I didn’t really need a break. What I needed was some fun, and my kids filled me with that for the rest of the day.
