Your advice has been life-altering for my family and me.
You taught me to let go of feeling stressed-out when my house is a mess because, as you’ve said, it means we live here. Understanding that simple point completely changed my perspective and has made it possible for me have more fun with my four kiddos.
You taught me the difference between punishment and discipline and how not to be reactionary. You taught me not to repeat the behaviors I experienced in my bad childhood. It blew my mind how much I had normalized my parents’ abuse.
You taught me it is okay to limit contact with destructive family members. I hope that my kids know that I’m protecting them as they watch me following your advice. I hope it will give them the courage to do the same if it ever becomes necessary.
