I’ve been married for almost 30 years. During this time, I have come to rely and treasure my husband’s hugs, but I never really thought to ask for them. After listening to you, I reminded myself to do this whenever I was feeling overwhelmed, tired, scared and even a little lonely as a stay-at-home mom who is now an empty nester. We both have enjoyed the hug requests so much that he requests them too!
Last week, I was feeling a bit fragile, and he heard it in my voice over the phone and said he’d be here soon to give me a hug. I went back to what I was doing with my daughter-in-law, and then he came into the room and said “Excuse me, ladies, but I am needed here!” He then proceeded to give me a great, big hug.
Thank you for reminding us all that there is so much love and support to be given and received from our spouses. Sometimes, all we need to do is ask.
