Email of the Day: You Helped Me Connect To My Dad

Email of the Day: You Helped Me Connect To My Dad

When I was 13 years old, my father left. My mother was ill and had many problems. She actually never left the house for a five-year period. Until I was in my late thirties, I never had a relationship with my father. Then one day, he called me and explained why he left and how bad he felt for leaving.

Soon after, I developed a new relationship with my father and we because very close. Every year, we planned a trip that included some associates from work, as he was very proud of my career and of what I had accomplished. While we were driving there, my father turned on the radio and you came on. This was twenty years ago. I couldn’t believe he listened to you and these callers, but he said he enjoyed your candor and your ability to cut to the chase. He especially mentioned how he loved your voice. About seven years ago, he passed away from cancer. I retired once the pandemic hit, and I was feeling down, not understanding what my new purpose would be.

So, I turned on SiriusXM and heard a woman talking to a guy saying β€œDo the right thing and stop being so selfish and get on with your life.” It immediately hit home and sounded exactly like what my father would have said to me. Then you identified yourself! I hadn’t heard you since driving that time with my dad twenty years ago. I’ve been listening every day since, and I’m certain my dad had something to do with my turning your channel on at that exact moment in time. And yes, you do have a beautiful voice. Like father, like son!
