Email of the Day: Keeping Courtship Alive (at Our Age)

My amazing husband and I were both 60 years old when we got married. I was a widow for 17 years while he was a life-long bachelor. After having his heart broken at 27, my hubby had a wild decades-long journey of being single, celibate and eager to find a wife.

I knew I wanted a man who believed in God, marriage, and recovery. When I told friends I wanted to get married under God first, then sex, I often heard, "You’re kidding, right?" One even said, β€œNo one’s gonna marry your old ass for sex!” Surprise, surprise! We both wanted to wait.

We start each day together with prayers and gratitude β€” three years and counting! My hubby treats me like a princess. And just like you say, we are each other's girlfriend and boyfriend.  I’m proof that it’s possible to court one another at this age β€” and marriage is so much better this way!
