My husband and I have two daughters. They have never been allowed to have boys in their bedrooms and they have never been allowed to have boys in the house when my husband and I are not there.
One night, our youngest daughter found condoms while snooping in her older sister’s room and she came to us with this news. When our older daughter came home, we let her know how disappointed we were that she chose to have sex. I explained that virginity is a gift so special that you can only give it away once. That’s why you save it. My husband told her how disrespectful it was to her for her boyfriend to make her keep the condoms for him. It turns out he didn’t want his parents to find them! We drove to the boyfriend’s house, and my husband asked to speak to their son, who was hiding behind his mother. My husband then took the condom packs out of his pocket, tossed them to the boy and said, “If you think you are man enough to have sex with my daughter, carry your own damn condoms!” We turned around and went home. The relationship ended very shortly after that night. We didn’t make them break up – that would have only made him more attractive to her.
