Years ago, my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday. There was one thing we needed — a wheelbarrow. A couple weeks later, she called and asked when I would be home. I told her I could be back in 15 minutes.
When I walked into our home, I found my wife sitting naked in the tray of a new wheelbarrow, wrapped in colored cellophane. Two glasses of wine waited alongside her.
Every time I use that wheelbarrow — more than 20 years later — you can only guess the images in my mind. Years later, I got to opportunity to “return the favor.”
I called my wife and told her, “I bought you a new toy, so you have to come home to see it.” When she opened the door, I greeted her with nothing on but a pair of skates. Moments like these prove how thankful I am to celebrate 32 years of playful marriage.
