I recently heard you talk about what to do when your kids are screaming or saying unkind things. This reminded me of a saying I use with my kids. I adopted it from my time as a waitress in high school and college.
When our managers would see us just hanging out, they’d say “If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean!” Since becoming a Mommy, I have modified this catchy phrase, and when I encounter screaming or unkind behavior from my kids, I say “If you’ve got time to scream, you’ve got time to clean!”
It works marvelously. And there’s always something to clean with two kids, a husband and a dog in the house.
