I'm a guy, and I like listening to your show. I started listening around 40 years ago when I was relatively newly married with 2 young boys. I've come to a realization about why I love listening – we're both in the business of root cause analysis!
I worked in a coal fired power plant and I enjoyed it immensely. My main job was to address environmental and electrical problems. To solve a problem, I had to get past all the emotional bluster and get the facts to allow me to identify the problem, work on a root cause. I used the people skills I had developed to get information. When I listen to you, I hear how you use deep questions to get facts and find a root cause. Most root causes are replays on the same theme, like choosing a mate badly. Every now and then though, you arrive at a conclusion that is not immediately obvious but makes sense. I didn't see it at first, but now I realize that your training and experiences have allowed you to navigate the chessboard of life to come up with the root causes of each problem you hear.
I'm a male engineer who you've helped with my human side, and I appreciate it. Now in my retirement, I'm working on my greatest personal challenge, surviving and defeating ALS.
