I have never been married and have no children. I recently read The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, as I joked to a friend “just in case hell ever freezes over.” This is because I don’t date and never really have.
I wanted to know what the book was all about, since you mention it often. To my surprise, I found it very useful in my daily, husband-less life! I knew that I could be “bitchy” from time to time, but this book really made me stop and think I need to be sweeter to EVERYONE in my life. I need to calm down and enjoy things and not be hard to get along with. And it has helped me understand men more. I work in a business with my father and other men. It has already helped me to be open to seeing them differently – to see them as men and not competition. You’ve said that when you make the changes, you’ll see instantaneous change. Well, you’re right! I already feel the difference.
I’m moving on to The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage next. I didn’t go into the first book expecting to get what I got out of it, so maybe with this one, my mind and heart will be opened even more!
I Need To Be Sweeter To Everyone
