My 15-year-old son asked me the other day, “Who’s been your biggest role model?” I already knew my answer as I reflected on his question. “I know you’re expecting me to say my parents — which is true — but it’s also Dr. Laura. She’s been the voice I’ve listened to since I was 10.”
Prior to getting pregnant with our first little one (and with your support in my head), my husband and I decided I’d stay home with our kids. In fact, I was the only stay-at-home mom in our extended family.
A family member once asked me, “What do you do all day?” I didn’t need to defend myself because I knew I was doing the right thing. I even had Dr. Laura on my side!
So, what did I do all day as a stay-at-home mom? I relished the time with all three of my kids. We read books, went to the park, played silly games and more. We had special moments I wouldn’t trade anything for!
As parents, we don’t have manuals. But you’ve been a beacon of light shining the way for others and for me.
