Recently, I heard you read an email from a listener who sent her husband out the door to work with a warm breakfast. I couldn’t remember the last time I did something like that, and my heart dropped when I thought of it.
We have grown children, and since becoming empty-nesters, I’ve worked with him every day in the office of our business. We try to leave work at work, but some days can be quite challenging. It hit me that I have become quite complacent and just assume that he knows that he is still my man.
Each morning, he gets up before me, takes a shower and gets dressed. We hug/kiss and he’s out the door, and then I shower and get dressed….but not THIS morning. As soon as he jumped in the shower, I sprang out of bed and cooked him a breakfast sandwich (his favorite), wrapped it in foil and put a sticky note on top, laying it beside his truck keys, that said “have a good day” and a big drawn heart on it. When he saw that, his face lit up and he threw his arms around me saying “thank you” with a huge smile on his face. He left happy and I felt happy. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to properly “feed” my marriage!
